about

Turin, November 1983 . An advert appears on the wall of famous city's record store Rock & Folk: "Neo-psychedelic band The Sick Rose are looking for drummer, guitarist, keyboard player and bass player".
Turin, November 2013 : The Sick Rose are still here. Thirty years after.

To celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the Sick Rose , Italian best and most important garage band ever, Area Pirata is proud to announce the release of the double CD-set "Blastin' Out... plus".

CD one contains "Blastin' Out", the first album that the legendary band released in 2006, fourteen years after their previous LP "Renaissance", while CD two includes the "Best of" Sick Rose since their very beginning to 1992.
Produced by another rock'n'roll legend as Dom Mariani (The Stems, Someloves, DM3), " Blastin' Out" is made by twelve songs that reveal to the world the band's new sonic step, now oriented toward an effervescent power pop side.
Tracks like "Love, Can't Get Enough", "Go Ask Your Mother", "Barbara" or the explosive title track can be noticed for the mix of power and melody obtained by an incredibly clean guitar sound, a perfect use of the choirs and Luca Re's evocative voice.
Originally released in Italy by Teen Sound and later in Spain by Rock Indiana, and soon out of print, "Blastin' Out" is now available again in this deluxe edition.

The second CD contains the story of the Sick Rose. It starts with the pivotal "Get Along Girl" , the band's 1985 debut single (on Electric Eye label), one of the most groundbreaking garage songs of all times. A tune that's a classic of the genre and it's still played and danced today in the Sixties parties all over the world.
From the first to the tracklist's last song it's a long trip of 18 songs through the rich discography of the band: the historic album "Faces" (Electric Eye, 1986), another milestone of the Italian and European neo-Sixties scene; the "Double Shot" EP (Electric Eye, 1987) and "Shaking Street" LP (Electric Eye, 1988), released together on CD by Area Pirata few years ago and still available in the label's catalogue; "Floating" and "Renaissance" albums (both released by Sinergy Records, respectively in 1990 and 1992).
It's a journey that follows the Sick Rose in the stylistic evolution of an extraordinaire career: from the Texas-garage of "Get Along Girl" to the garage and psychedelic fascinations of their first LP "Faces"; from Real Kids/Flamin' Groovies sound of "Shakin' Street" to the Detroit-rock style of "Renaissance".

This double-CD set is a must for all those who loved (and still love!) the Sick Rose... and for those who don't know them yet!
